Ohne Titel. 1956.
Watercolor.
Claesges 56-035. Verso with a hand-written inscription and a confirmation from Elisabeth Nay-Scheibler. On firm paper. 27.3 x 56.6 cm (10.7 x 22.2 in), the full sheet.
This is one of the preliminary watercolors for the large-size work "Freiburger Bild" (oil on canvas, Scheibler 812), which explains the unusually long format. There is no final study in existence that can be ascribed directly to the oil painting, which is why the prelimiary watercolors must be considered of equal value with regards to the later painting (cf. catalog raisonné Claesges, p. 115). [CH].
• Preliminary watercolor for the large-size painting "Freiburger Bild".
• Notable provenance
• Unusual format.
• Colors in a particularly strong and fresh impression.
