Manuskripte. - Äthiopien. - Ge'ez manuscript on vellum with 28 fullpage miniatures in colors . Ethiopia, 20th century (miniatures) and 18th century (text). 13 double ll. and 2 single ll., sewn together and in leporello fold. Size of sheets ca. 15 : 12 cm. Strong 18th century wooden boards with brown blindtooled morocco covers: multiple frame of slant iron line with roll borders, center panel and cross illustration of line and circle stamps, pastedown with figurative relief carving (ca. 11 : 9 cm). Decorative series of images in leporello fold, put together from various different manuscripts. The themes mostly cover Mary and Jesus Christ (Annunciation, Passion of Christ), also with several saints. Miniatures on front are painted over the original text, the text fragments from the 18th century are still visible. They hint at a psaltery as well as parts of the Ethiopian canticle and at part of the New Testament at the end (2nd and 3rd Epistle of John, incomplete). The writer of the gospel part is Gäbrä Hanna, as mentioned on the last page of the text part. - With isolated creasemarks, with small blemishes in places (mostly in folding or in margins), last l. with marginal blemishes.Decorative series of manuscripts on 13 double ll. and 2 single ll., sewn together and in leporello fold, with 28 fullpage miniatures in colors.
