Friedländer assumes, and that assumption has been accepted by now, that the Master IB is identical with the young Georg (Jörg) Pencz (Bentz). Neither stylistic nor chronologic facts speak against that thesis

Bartsch (Pencz) 19. Monogrammed and dated on the plate. Nice impression on laid paper, with platemark in places, partly closely trimmed within the platemark. 7,6 : 28,8 cm (2,9 : 11,3 in), size of sheet.
