Owed to the time as soldier in Africa (1940-1943) and the following years in war captivity in the USA and Scotland, Hans Jaenisch came in contact with various cultural influences. In this series the influence of Islamic ornaments and Native American symbols become obvious. The so-called "Tuschbilder", collages with India ink and glazing color on canvas, came into existence between 1960 and 1963. [EH].
