In a style, marked by late Romanticism, he predominantly painted German landscapes, emphasizing the reproduction of seasonal and weather moods. Since the end of the 1840s, he increasingly turned to winter landscapes, lending them a nearly genre-like character with their figure decoration. He prepared for his carefully composed painting with in-depth nature studies. He participated in numerous German and Northern European exhibitions. [UB]
