[KD] Between 1903 and 1909, Carl Christoph Hartig studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, the Aachen Applied Arts School and with Ludwig von Hofmann and Hans Olde at the Weimar Art School. In his work, Hartig absorbed and assimilated a variety of Classical Modern trends. Starting with Impressionism, Hartig studied the work of Cézanne in Paris but was also inspired by the Fauves and Cubism, creating from all those influences a style that was distinctively his own.
