• The year this work was created, the artist used aluminum as a substrate for his sensual and complex oil paintings for the first time.
• The matt-glossy surface materiality, the painterly brushstroke, the warm colors, and the vibrant surfaces result in a painting with an almost sculptural effect.
• The variety of nuances of red presented here enables Scully to play with the expressive power of warm-toned color.
• Works by the artist from the same year can be found at, among others, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Albertina in Vienna, and the Kunstmuseum Bern.
