VD 17, 23:305653Y. - Not in the baroque bibliographies. - Unique edition of this extremely rare collection of festivity poems on behalf of the 88th (and last) birthday of Aufgust the Younger, duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel and founder of the Wolfenbüttel library, named after him. The nice coppers depicting a symbolic, mysterious orbit of the moon, musical notes and cryptographic diagrams, which were a special gift, as August was an expert in cryptography. He published his work about cryptographs under the pseudonym Gustavus Selenus in 1624. Contributions by S. von Birken, H. Meibom, J. G. Schottelius, Herzogin Sophie Elisabeth, Herzog Rudolf-August, Herzog Anton Ulrich and many more. - Partly somewhat browned, 1 l. detached, title with erased stamp. edges rubbed. All in all well-preserved copy.
