Signed in lower left. With a fragmentariyl preserved label, twice with the label of Galerie Bruno & Paul Cassirer, no. 209 and no. 757 (titled "Schweinekoben") on the reverse. 50 x 64.4 cm (19.6 x 25.3 in).
• Study for the large studio version of the motif from 1888, which was on loan at the Nationalgalerie Berlin and exhibited at the Liebermann Villa.
• Characteristic motif from the early period in Holland.
• Made the same year as his key work "Flachsscheuer in Laren" (Alte Nationalgalerie, Berlin).
• Upon its exhibition at Galerie Gurlitt in 1888, the studio version was described as one of the artist's best works.
PROVENANCE: Private collection Amsterdam (1890).
