Monod 10802. - Strachan S. 329 und 195. - Erste Ausgabe. - "The Russians were pioneers in an expressionist use of colour even before the more abstract developents of Kandinsky and de Staël. Russian-born Sonja Delaunay is the widow of Robert Delaunay who contributed illustrations only one livre d'artiste, Allô, Paris (Joseph Delteil). His painting has obviously influence her; she uses colours that hark back to Orphism, evoking rainbows and coloured spinning-tops, reminiscent of her husband's dictum 'la lumière déforme tout, brise tout'. The controlled gaiety of her colour etchings to Juste Présent, text by Tzara, reminds on that she begann as a costume designer for the stage. The abstract shapes from interesting contrasts of flat colour and black, hateched areas, and link wih such painting as the 'Rhythme Sans Fins'" (Strachan). Platzstelle, sonst sehr gut erhalten.
