Signed in lower left (almnost as part of the depiction). Titled and with the estate stamp of the Kunstmuseum Basel (Lugt 1570 b) and the hand-written registration number "A Be / Bl 1" on the reverse. On firm wove paper. 56.8 x 38.3 cm (22.3 x 15 in), the full sheet. [CH].

• In winter 1915 and spring 1916, the artist spent several weeks at the sanatorium of Dr. Kohnstamm in Königstein im Taunus.
• The dynamic-spontaneous, almost nervous line reflects the artist's state of mind.
• Impressive spontaneous account of the immediate experience.
• Kirchner highlights certain aspects of this expressive drawing in watercolors.
