• Early informal composition in a gently glowing purple and black tone.
• In 2015 the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich dedicated an own exhibition to the emancipation and dynamization of the color in Fritz Winter's painting of the 1960s.
• Since his participation in documenta I (1955) Winter has been acknowledged as one of the leading heads of German Informalism and post-war abstraction.
• Winter showed first works in the USA in the 1950s, among others in two shows at the Museum of Modern Art, New York
