Prophet. 1913/14.
Bronze with brown patina, on grayish-black stone base.
With the artist's name and the foundry mark "NOACK BERLIN" on rear. One of just eleven casts of which one (artist's copy) is in possession of the Foundation Seebüll Ada and Emil Nolde. 23.6 x 5.5 x 2.5 cm (9.2 x 2.1 x 0.9 in). Base: 4,4 x 6 x 6 cm (1,7 x 2,4 x 2,4 in).
Cast by art foundry Hermann Noack, Berlin in 1960. The bronze is based on Nolde's hand-carved wood sculpture "Prophet" made during a South Seas journey in 1913/14. [CH].
