Lower right signed and dated. On light brownish board. 37 x 52 cm (14.5 x 20.4 in), the full sheet. [CH].

• From the sought-after "Brücke" days (1905-1912)
• Made between June and September 1911 during Pechstein‘s second stay at Nida, his beloved
paradisiac fishing village on the Courland Spit
• Document of Pechstein‘s intensive artistic examination of the unity of man and nature
• Pechstein also captured the motif of bathers and sunbathers on the beach in paintings, as Erich Heckel, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Otto Mueller did, too. The outdoor nude became one of the main motifs of the artist group
.
