Sammlung von Anekdoten aus Melanchthons Vorlesungen, aufgezeichnet von seinem Schüler Johannes Manlius. Sehr seltener Görlitzer Druck von Ambrosius Fritsche.
Der Humanist und Melanchthon-Schuler Manlius (gest. um 1570) sammelte Briefe und Anekdoten seines Lehrers und editierte diese erstmalig. Die "Loci Manlii" erschienen zwischen 1562 und 1610 in zehn Auflagen. Enthält auf den Seiten 38/39 eine der frühesten Quellen zu Faust mit der Nennung von Knittlingen als Fausts Herkunftsort. Am Ende auch ein Libellus medicus variorum experimentorum, quae numquam in lucem prodierunt (S. 724-801).
EINBAND: Zeitgenössischer Schweinslederband über Holzdeckeln mit reicher Blind- und Rollenprägung sowie Mittelplatten: VDeckel mit Luther-Porträt, RDeckel mit Melanchthon-Porträt. 8vo. 17 : 10,5 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit 3 Textholzschnitten und Holzschnitt-Druckermarke am Ende. - KOLLATION: 12 Bll., 801 (recte 803) S., [1] S., 21 Bll. Register - ZUSTAND: Schwach gebräunt, vereinz. mit alten Unterstreichungen oder Marginalien, Spiegel mit alten Eintragungen. Einband gering fleckig, bewegliche Schließenteile entfernt. - PROVENIENZ: Leere Rückseite des letzten Blattes mit hs. Besitzeintrag, dat. 1746.

Rare edition of the "Loci Manlii" printed in Görlitz. With 3 woodcuts in text and woodcut printer's device at end. Contemp. pigskin over wooden boards richly blind- and rollstamped and with two panels: portraits of Luther and Melanchthon. - Minor browning, here and there old underlining or marginalia, pastedowns with old entries, binding slightly stained, movable parts of the clasps removed. Ownership inscription from 1746 on last blank page.
