G. von Quandt (1787-1859) was a merchant from Leipzig and later became a patron in Dresden. He gained "als Kenner älterer und Pfleger zeitgenössischer Kunst zu hohem Ansehen und wirksamem Einfluß" [translation of quote: recognition and influence as a fancier of old and a patron of contemporary art. ] (ADB XXVII, 11). - Partly foxed and with brown stains, first half title removed, last ll. browned, title and first text ll. with tear (loss of letters). Binding stained, edgeworn and bumped.
