Lower right several times signed and with estate stamp in left. On rose laid paper. 29.8 x 17.4 cm (11.7 x 6.8 in), size of sheet.
This sheet was presumably made in connection with the paintings "Hinter den Kulissen" (Wichmann 1149, Neue Pinakothek, Munich) and "Balletteuse" (Wichmann 1150, private ownership, Zurich). Another sheet with sketches of dancers is in private possession (cf. Siegfried Wichmann, Spitzweg. Zeichnungen und Skizzen, Munich 1985, p. 76, illu. 4). [CB].
