Alongside Otto Piene, Heinz Mack was a founding member of the "ZERO" movement in Dusseldorf in 1957. In 1963 he abandoned canvas painting and began to experiment with light. With his works on paper, the "chromatic color images" he approached a decoding of the light's spectral colors. The chromatics are particularly captivating for their intensity and purity. The artist renders a rich and unique color spectrum, however, an impression of a radiant and non-material purity arises.
